52 Weeks of Prayer – Week 6

Welcome to week 6! Patience is something that does not come naturally to the human heart. The truth is,  humans hate to wait! The whole idea of having patience is contrary to our sinful nature. We want what we want, and we want it now. However, patience is an attribute that we must learn to be obedient servants of God. In fact, patience is one of the attributes of God, an attribute that we should be extremely grateful for. It is patience that held back God’s wrath against sin and caused Him to send Jesus to the world to be the sacrifice for sin.

The Scriptures refer to this attribute of God with the words “slow to anger.” Isn’t that an incredible way to describe it? Think about the last time you lost your patience. When humans lose their patience, anger is often the result. It is for this very reason that Christ-followers need to learn godly patience. God often calls His children into situations that are designed to build their patience. He wants His children to wait on Him, and trust that He knows what is best for them in every way. So this week, ask God to build patience in your heart by teaching you how to wait on Him.
